Options Seeks Managing Editor
Options Magazine is an education and resource publication for the LGBTQIA+ community of Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts.
Options is seeking a Managing Editor with a flexible start date of October 1, 2021.
Managing Editor Primary Responsibilities:
Collaborate with local writers, organizations, and the Options Editorial Committee to produce original content for publication in e-newsletters, social media, and website
Proofread, restructure, and edit articles by volunteer content writers with feedback from a team of volunteer copy editors (conducted online or in-person as preferred)
Procure images available for publication from volunteer photographers and image subscription services, and credit as appropriate
Oversee the Resources Editor and Calendar Editor’s website updates
Facilitate meetings of a volunteer Editorial Committee to determine the publication’s editorial vision
Oversee the Social Media Coordinator's updates to the website and social media platforms
Work with the Social Media Coordinator to achieve Options’ content and communications strategy, within a publishing calendar
Prepare and publish the final version of two e-newsletters per month based on the agreed schedule
Regularly review the website content for accuracy and relevance to the current focus of Options’ advocacy, community efforts, and strategy
Manage the editorial calendar, providing deliverables to deadline to ensure timely publication
Generate new ideas around Options-related topics
Accept related deliverables of nominal time commitment at the request of the Editorial Committee or the Board of Directors
Coordinate with the Advertising Manager, Designer, Resources Editor, Calendar Editor, Editorial Committee, and the Board of Directors as needed
This is a part-time contracted position with negotiable pay.
