SAGE-RI is committed to working in partnership and is pleased to acknowledge the RI Chapter of AARP for its generous support and help with programing for the LGBT Café. Current information on important programs and initiatives is made available on an ongoing basis to ensure participants are well informed. AARP-RI has also co-sponsored events such as a free screening of the Elton John biopic Rocketman through their national office Movies for Grown Ups program. A long standing cooperative relationship with the Senior Agenda Coalition of RI guarantees SAGE-RI’s presence at the Senior Conference and Expo to be held at the Crowne Plaza on November 1. In liaison with the Episcopal Diocese of RI, the Church of the Transfiguration, has proven to be a loyal partner as the site of the LGBT Café and of our first-Saturday-of-the-month meetings. Recently, SAGE-RI began a collaboration with Thundermist Health Center to promote social and recreational opportunities aimed at enhancing quality of life by reducing the risk of social isolation.
Great strides are being made in an effort to develop capacity in Rhode Island for LGBT cultural competency training for health care settings, including hospitals and long term care facilities, social service, and senior service providers. Anyone interested in participating in this initiative is invited to email SAGE-RI at email@example.com. Please help us with outreach. We need to be in contact with individuals from various health care, long term care, and community-based settings who are motivated to learn more about the issues and concerns of LGBT elders, and who would be willing to share newly learned information and resources with their colleagues.
SAGE-RI (Services & Advocacy for GLBT Elders) addresses issues of concern to LGBT elders and is an organization of diverse people of all ages. For information on programs or to join SAGE-RI, drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org; find us on Facebook as SAGE-Rhode Island; or send correspondence to our new address SAGE-RI c/o the Church of the Transfiguration, 1665 Broad Street, Cranston, RI 02905.
